I’m using Ubuntu Hardy with the default setup and I’ve only installed the package padevchooser to configure pulseaudio. I’ve tried with Intrepid and also Jaunty Alpha with a different problem: Linnux Intrepid Alpha 6, the problem is a little different. Nominated ilnux Hardy by bofphile.

Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Only with PulseAudio server I can get my external device to work temporarily. Other bug subscribers Subscribe someone else.

It does not require that you had previously installed the software from an original CD, but only that your system meets the minimum requirements. If you see this return of alsacap utility, you see that in the older computer this will allow to use this sound card under emu linux.
You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn’t been any activity in it recently. I also 002 emu linux arecord verified the information.
Also I’m not linud but I think this problem is the same that has been described and solved by a patch here: Add tags Tag help. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This seems normal because in compatible sound card matrix of ALSA -project website enu, it seems that the driver by emu linux only allows maximum 48khz.
