The software is supposed to ‘activate’ them when it is ready, but if not ready, the relays go into bypass mode, and join the 2 ethernet connections together. ESXi detects the card perfectly, and shows no errors, it’s online and iintel.
I wish I knew what exactly was going on under the hood, but I’ll take the functionality for now. Upgraded to ESXi 5.

Intel EB – Bypass mode with ESXi 6? : vmware
Not sure if this the correct forum, but here I go. The vmnics are not present in the ESXi client or eesxi I do a “esxclient network nic list”.
I connect it to devices or to switches, and get no link at all. If you are an employee, please PM one of the moderators that has a VMware logo for verification instructions and we will add it to yours as well!
We are about to bin this card and put in a new model We have intwl updating all the drivers, moving the card around on all three pci express slots and still no luck.
